Juvederm | Restylane

As we age, we lose volume in our faces in a very predictable way. We lose both soft tissue such as fat, muscle and skin thickness as well as bony resorption. Fillers can be used to replace some of this lost volume safely and naturally without surgery. Most fillers are injected under local anesthesia in the office and take immediate effect.

What are “fillers”?

The most common type of filler is made from hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is found in your body that lubricates and fills spaces between your cells. Juvederm and Restylane are families of fillers that primarily contain hyaluronic acid.

Why are there so many different fillers?

Juvederm and Restylane each have multiple products under the parent names. These products are similar in that they are mainly composed of hyaluronic acid, but have subtle differences in the viscosity or firmness. Experienced injectors use different products in different locations and to produce optimal results as desired by the physician or patient. Some of the products are listed below:

  • Juvederm Ultra
  • Juvederm Ultra Plus
  • Juvederm Volbella
  • Juvederm Vollure
  • Juvederm Voluma
  • Restylane
  • Restylane Lyft
  • Restylane Defyne
  • Restylane Refyne
  • Restylane Contour
  • Restylane Silk

Where are fillers commonly injected?

  • Cheeks or malar area
  • Lips
  • Temples
  • Nose
  • Nasolabial fold
  • Chin
  • Jawline

Will I look weird or fake after fillers?

NO! When used properly, fillers should replace lost volume to give a soft natural rejuvenating appearance to your face. Replenishing the volume in your face is the most natural way to “turn back the clock”.

Not everyone is a good candidate for fillers. This is why a consultation with an experienced injector like Dr. Aquadro is so important.
